March 15, 2021

This session will provide a high-level overview of key items where project gaps may occur between project disciplines’, specifically in relationship to aquatic projects.  The session will cover coordination between Aquatics, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil, with how and who is responsible for what, as an example, domestic water supply to the pool system, start / stop and requirements. No previous construction or operations experience is required as we will provide background on each of the areas to be discussed. Q & A will follow.

Jamie Lopes leads the Aquatic Design & Engineering at DEI & Associates Inc. and brings fifteen years of experience in aquatic systems design.  Jamie has successfully completed and worked on major new facilities throughout Canada as well as design for major renovations, smaller swim schools, and technical reports on issues at numerous facilities. His experience, knowledge, and abilities in the aquatic sector have resulted in Jamie being a well-connected and respected aquatic consultant throughout municipal and private sectors. Jamie is also working with the Ministry of Health updating the Ontario Health Regulations and the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) for future changes on the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) program delivery.

On a personal level, when Jamie is not working on pools, Jamie can be found on the wrestling mats as a Level 2 national coach for the Matmen Wrestling Club in Kitchener – Waterloo, as well as an avid scuba diver and dive instructor. Jamie’s diving has taken him from checking on pools to shipwrecks in Tobermory and the coral and tropical waters (including the continental shelf) off the coast of Honduras.
