COVID Online Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Training
The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) announced Certified Pool Operator (CPO) training will temporarily be available 100% online during COVID-19. Here are the steps we're taking to provide quality Certified Pool Operator (CPO) training online.
- live, in-person virtual classroom (webinar) instruction by Katie Crysdale
- class size capped at 25 people
- hosted via Click Meeting, a stable platform used to host hundreds of participants simultaneously during POOLaide Webinars
- password-protected virtual classroom
- live chat, including the option to ask questions by microphone or phone
- four-hour per day delivery model so you can still live your life, three (3) days of class, one (1) day of testing
- one-on-one student support via phone, email, or private webinar, including whiteboard for math questions
Note: CPO classes are metric (centimeter, meter, liter) math unless specified as a US imperial class (inches, feet, yards, gallons)
Both examples of math exist in the handbook. Students can select an imperial or metric exam. Private CPO class bookings (see below) can be imperial or metric.
Books will be shipped from Alberta via Canada Post or FedEx Ground. If your book does not arrive on time, we will move you to a future class free of charge.
If you have access to a National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF) 2014 or 2017 edition or Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) 2020 Certified Pool Operator handbook by collecting it from your workplace or a colleague - ensure appropriate physical distancing - contact us to register at the non-book rate of $400 CAD + tax.
Only one participant per book per class; one facility may share the same book multiple times in different classes (weeks).

How does the virtual classroom work?
You are required to attend three (3) days (12 hours) of online virtual instruction and complete an online exam. Certification is achieved after successfully completing the online exam. The exam is invigilated and must be performed under the video supervision of the instructor on a third-party website.
Do I need to be in Canada to take this class?
No! We can train anyone anywhere in the world. The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) Certified Pool Operator (CPO) class is currently accredited in 105 countries. Please contact us to ensure that we can get you a CPO handbook in a timely fashion due to shipping restrictions during COVID-19.
What time will the class be?
Class times vary by session.
Why is the price in Canadian dollars?
We are a Canadian-based company. Shopify, our host, or Paypal will convert the amount to the currency of your choice; tax may apply depending on location. $1.42 CAD = $1 USD (April 24, 2020)
Why is the price the same as an in-person CPO class?
The price is the same because we deliver the same quality instruction and individual support via email, phone, and private webinar tutoring. We also pay additional fees (such shipping books individually via FedEx and an online exam fee) during online CPO class delivery. See what our clients are saying about us by clicking here.
Will you offer two-day (8-hour x 2 days) training?
We are offering the 16-hour class over four days in order to fulfill existing commitments to clients and the POOLaide Webinars. Private CPO training requests of 12 people (minimum) are eligible for 8-hour delivery, pending availability.
Please Contact Us for more information about scheduling a private class, either metric or US imperial.
Are you offering the fusion/blended training with Pool Operator Primer (POP)?
We are not offering this option. Please see our friends at Aquatic Council if this is your preference.
How long will the online CPO class be available?
We cannot speculate how long the online CPO class will be available as an option. It is currently available as a result of the COVID-19 Crisis and government restrictions against group gatherings.
Due to limited seats and high demand, there will be no refunds for online Certified Pool Operator (CPO) classes 48 hours after purchase. Transfers (person or date) will be permitted.
What's happening with in-person classes?
Please refer to the 2020 Class Schedule page for the most up-to-date information about in-person CPO classes.
