Brent has 20 years of aquatic experience, starting as a lifeguard/instructor and eventually finding his passion in the mechanical room. For the past 13 years at  Automated Aquatics Canada Ltd., Brent’s helped pool operators optimize their water quality. Brent was recently appointed to the Filtration & Circulation Committee for the Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC).

The COVID-19 Pandemic has helped Brent spend more time at home developing his craft skills under the supervision of his toddlers, specializing in finger painting & googly eye paper monsters.

Clarification re: retaining water without circulation: 

  • Add unstabilized chlorine to achieve FAC of 20 ppm (pH maintained during the chlorine increase) and allow circulation to run for 1 turnover before shutting down.
  • Run filter circulation system and feature pumps at least one turnover per week to reduce stagnation.
  • Sample chlorine/pH during this time. N.B. High chlorine DPD/phenol red interference in effective colorimetric testing and adjust accordingly.
  • Shock chlorinate to 20 ppm again when FAC drops below 3 ppm.
