Fee Increase

Most people are small business owners because they want to live their values: pay a living wage, spend more time with family, do the job right the first time. For whatever reason, they are DONE with mediocrity and red tape and excuses in the regular world as to why they can't do what's right for the client because it's bad for the organization or business profits.

For me, starting Lakeview Aquatic Consultants Ltd. just happened because I saw a very real need that wasn't being filled, providing training and mentoring to those in the aquatic/swimming pool industry. If I made some money along the way, great! But that's now why I do what I do.

That's back when I was doing this part-time in addition to my full-time municipal aquatic job (hello benefits!). Now that I am one year into doing this full-time as an independent small business, I'm putting on my big girl boots and looking at how to make the business sustainable for everyone... including my household.

Image result for good fast or cheap

January 1, 2020 is a long way off but I want to give you plenty of notice that our Certified Pool Operator (CPO) classes will be going up by $50 to $450/person plus tax. 2019 classes are unaffected. We will still be below our biggest competitor in Alberta, but this will put us above some competitors in other markets. And that's ok. I'm not the right instructor if you want fast or cheap.

I don't take this decision lightly - it puts our classes out of reach for individuals making minimum wage, paying for training to better themselves. However, not raising prices would mean discontinuing over $2,500 in donations and free training we provided in 2019. The road to hell is paved with good intentions; I cannot help anyone if we go bankrupt.

I will balance this increase by continuing to offer excellent, FREE content on our Facebook page, Instagram account, blog, monthly newsletter, and by developing new free downloads available to anyone in 2020.

Thank you for choosing us as your partner in aquatic safety & drowning prevention, I sincerely appreciate your business. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us
